In May 2025, a team of seven eye-care volunteers including Orthoptist, Rowena McNamara, visited Malawi under the auspices of The Raven Trust, and delivered surgical and out-patient ophthalmic equipment to 17 eye clinics, and educational materials to a college and a university.
The World Sight Foundation generously donated to the Trust copies of “Primary Eye Care: A Guide to Diagnosis and Management”, which the team distributed and which were enthusiastically received by college and university staff – particularly when the QR codes produced excellent photos on their mobile phones.
Copies were presented to Ophthalmic staff at Academic Vision Centre a training department in Mzuzu Central Hospital for optometry and medical students from Mzuzu university.
