The autumn was a busy time for the WSF with teaching through various initiatives in Africa.
In Autumn 2016 Professor Janet Marsden and Mrs Jane Tapley conducted and ophthalmic nursing teaching to the current ophthalmic students at the nursing teaching school in Maseru, Lesotho.
Mrs Jane Tapley, Mrs Julie Cloake and Miss Theresa Sandinha taught ophthalmic nurses for three days at McCord Hospital in Durban, South Africa. These nurses were drawn from the hospital itself and from the rural areas of Natal.
Mr Steve Abery conducted a course in refraction for ophthalmic clinical officers in Nairobi, Kenya.
Mrs Jane Tapley and Mrs Debbie Lysons taught orthoptics to the current ophthalmic clinical officer training course in Jinja, Uganda.
